Hey there friends and
family,
It has been a pretty good week for me. The way we have
been doing missionary work has been changed pretty drastically. President Jordan has really wanted us to visit
with members, to strengthen them and get referrals. And quite honestly that is
pretty much what we did all of last week. He told us to be more creative and to
not just go to town centre when our plans fall through. So we saw a ton of
members and lots of less actives as well. It was good. We need new
investigators really badly though. We lost a lot of ours.
However, we have a really really solid lady from Brazil.
Her name is Luchiana and we had a good lesson with her on Sunday. She was
telling us that she knew the church was true when she attended it in Brazil but
when she came here she kind of lost it. She
was never baptized but hopefully we will keep making good progress with her.
During our talk we got her pretty excited about prayer and what not. I am
really stoked about it.
This is probably my last week with Elder Murri. Transfers
are a week from Wednesday. I think that’s the 19th. I really don’t know who
will leave and who will stay. It might be either. Either way I think I will be
happy.
Things are getting a bit colder now. It will be
interesting to see how I cope with autumn and winter, seeing how I haven’t
really been around them for a year.
All the anti stuff has pretty much stopped. Now we are
just having trouble finding people to listen to us. I guess you trade one
problem for another.
A cool miracle happened this week as well. We have an
investigator named Linda. She is a British lady who has been investigating for
like 6 years and has never gotten baptized. She is really really nice and she
KNOWS the church is true but for some reason keeps flaking out on baptism. We
went to teach her a lesson on Friday. But the lesson we planned just didn’t
feel right. So it was just kind of small talk most of the time. But at the very
end of our chat something told me to invite her to be baptized on the 23rd of
this month. So right before we left I did...And she got really wide eyed and
kind of went silent...which made me kind of nervous. But then she said that she
had been thinking about that exact same date!! Hooray for the spirit!!!! Hopefully
we get her dunked this time.
Love you guys,
Elder Purdy
